This scan helps her plan exactly where each implant should go for the best support. If your jawbone needs more density before implants can be placed, she may recommend bone grafting to build up the area first.
On surgery day, a set number of implant posts, often four to six per arch, are placed into the jawbone. Many patients receive a temporary set of teeth the same day, so you're not left without teeth while healing happens. Sedation dentistry options are available if you feel anxious about the procedure or simply want a more relaxed appointment.
Healing, called osseointegration, usually takes a few months. During this time, the bone fuses to the implant posts and creates a stable foundation. Once healing is complete, your final, custom-made restoration is attached. Much of the planning and design work happens right here in our office, which often means fewer outside visits than patients expect.
